«The Innovation At Heart programme was born from a collaboration with EML Executive Education, as part of the PDMA project (Product Development & Management Association).

It was designed to answer the recurrent issue of Innovation Management inside companies : indeed, according to my experience, most companies still lack maturity to conduct their Innovation strategies with serenity. In particular, when launching new products, they still encounter difficulties in matching their entry strategies with the specific approach required by Innovation.

Thanks to its strong experience in Innovation Management, EML Executive Education created just the right programme for us. Tailored to our needs, short, participative and well-thought-out, a first session to the Innovation@Heart programme was first provided to about twenty of our engineers in March 2008.».

An innovative approach

Too often, training session about Innovation are heavy and disconnected from daily issues. Thanks to its innovative approach, relying on creative and interactive tools as well as a real care for the needs expressed by managers during training sessions, EML really gave us something else.

Divided into teams of four, each team coached by an EML trainer, our managers really felt they had the opportunity to express themselves and learn from each other.

At the end of the training session, those exchanges were analysed by EML teams and their analysis was proposed to DBA's Top Management.

A collaborative organization

The Innovation At Heart programme is designed to create an environment for collective work. Using a panel of interactive game boards, participants got to realize that innovation is not just something that happens by accident : a good vision of the working environment, specific know-hows and attitudes designed to foster the emergence of innovations can really help !

Based on interactive training tools, the Innovation At Heart programme helps participants understand and define the key competencies and gateways to cross-department innovation strategies.

The core process of a programme like Innovation At Heart is to create an environment for thinking and debating, a very important process, especially in the R&D context. EML's training sessions were so inspiring that DBA chose to place Innovation at the Heart of its Top Managers' Meeting in Barcelona, in October 2008.

Innovation at Heart in Barcelona

According to the Innovation@Heart programme, Innovation must be at the centre of a global reflection. During the biannual meeting, DBA's Top Management chose to work on this theme.

Participants worked at designing new action plans in order to join Innovation and Project Teams dynamics in a cross-departmental approach. This seminar led to the concrete implementation of new tools for several brands within the Group.

According to Anne-Christine Ayed, "This programme highlighted the needs and ways to facilitate the collaboration between innovators and innovation leaders".
